Welcome back to Term 2

I hope that you have all have had a great break.  I know that I certainly enjoyed my time with my family and having a good rest after such a busy term.

This term our main inquiry topic is "Movers and Shakers", (natural disasters).  We are going to be looking at how volcanoes, earthquakes and floods happen, and how they change the landscape around us.

We will continue to work on our numeracy skills in Mathematics, as well as looking at some shapes in our Geometry unit.

Our art focus this term is Sculptures and we are going to be doing some paper mache.  We will start by making some masks, and then use our skills to create a mountain/landscape to display our learning for our "Movers and Shakers" unit.

We will be doing Cross Country on 19 May, and we are currently practising for this during our fitness time.  Our course is approximately 1km long, and we are building up to covering this distance.

HOMEWORK

Reading books will continue to come home Monday - Thursday.  Please keep these books in the reading folder until after the weekend and return the following Monday.  On Friday, your child has Library and will bring home a poem in their poem book.

Maths - Magical Maths cards were sent home on Monday afternoon.  These are things that your child needs to know by the end of their second year at school.  Please choose one thing each night to practise with your child for about 5 minutes.

Keep practising those Tricky words using the Look, Cover, Write, Check method.  These words were tested at the end of Term 1 and an updated list should now be in your child's notebook.

As always, if you have any questions, please ask!
